Crazy Spam

kyrium
I don´t know why but there is a lot of crazy spam in a lot of doujins. I enter my account and in one day i got more than 800 notifications.

You can find a lot of these kind of comments.
A raid of some sort. I checked other like sites but they didnt have anything like this. Just Pururin.

Just a bored kid, ignore or unsubscribe to deal with the notifications and leave him be. We've been focussing more on long term improvements (moderating actual content and tags in case of moderators, working on a huge overhaul for site in case of Puru) instead of playing whack-a-mole with some 14y old that thinks they're really smart for using a script and a vpn.

it just never ends with these people, does it? I normally ignore it, but 620+? COME ON...
Horndog88
I'm at 1014 notifications. I kinda wanna know who has the most at this point lol

On the other hand I want to ask if isnt that spam shower making the site slower, or is it that because of the announced changes the staff is making to the site?

Load from the spambot is really minor, surprisingly, though server cache definitely does take a good minute to process it whenever Puru does wipe the spam (which is honestly sort of a wasted effort but allows me to actually moderate other comments).

Sharing server bandwith with testing environment for the new changes is a bit heavier on server but still shouldn't really be noticed.

The problems are mostly stemming from the fact that most of the world is in quarantine and people have a lot more time on their hands to read porn and launch DDoS attacks.

As for moderation, because the spambot is much more than I can keep up with, I'm mostly just deleting comments from people who feed the troll or join in on the copypasta so that it won't leave any long term impact on our comment sections when a more permanent solution than occasional flushes comes along.

Would it be hard to implement recaptcha for comments? v3 should be practically invisible for normal users. And even if not, it should be better than spam bots

Well at the moment you're posting it its literally implemented already, as you can see by the icon floating in bottom right when viewing gallery pages.

Seems to be a passive kind that just distinguishes between bots and people instead of annoying the fuck out of people, which is a very convenient for users as it makes commenting less of a bother.........even if those comments are manual spam posts..... I do clean those up whenever I have time to check the recent comments page, its more that bots could post them a lot faster than I can keep up with.

Took us a few days to actually implement it because devs can't really quit their daytime job and social life just to rush through an update as fast as users expect it to take to just write a few lines of code, this was already rushed enough that it seems they accidentally broke the mobile navigation button in the process.

Linking: To prevent spam, all links are stripped out of your post.

You can link internally to galleries, users, tags, etc. by typing an identifier (consisting of one letter and a number) between brackets. To quickly find and select tags and galleries to link to, use the searchfield to insert them into your post.

Examples:
  • Reply to a post: eg. [C5]
  • Link to a tag: eg. [T187]
  • Link to a gallery: eg. [G54]
  • Link to an image: eg. [G54#2]
  • Link to a user: eg. [U521]
  • Link to a contribution: eg. [S128]
  • Link to a forum post: eg. [P15]
